Having soft, young and good looking skin need not be achieved through expensive beauty products alone. A desirable diet for healthy skin and following some dos and don'ts on healthy skin is a very practical and natural way of having good skin.

What is the ideal diet for healthy skin?

Seafood particularly fish should be included in the diet. It brings shine to the skin and makes it soft.

Foods rich on omega 3 fatty acid are good for the skin. Grounded flax seeds are excellent sources of this essential fatty acid to make the skin healthy.

Eat plenty of vegetables that are rich in Vitamin A. Several orange and dark green vegetables are rich in Vitamin A like carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, broccoli, kale and spinach.

Nuts rich are rich in Vitamin E which is also essential to achieve a healthy skin. Nuts as snacks should be included in your daily diet.

Dos and Don'ts for a healthy skin

The Dos

Drinking at least 8 glasses of water daily. Lemon or lime maybe added for flavour. Proper hydration is needed for the body and the skin to be healthy.

Ensure to consume seafood at least 3 times each week.

At least 8 servings of vegetables and fruits every day makes the skin healthy. Essential vitamins and minerals are on these foods that will make the skin healthy.

Ensure to have at least 20-30 calories of healthy fats for moisture.

Protect your skin everyday, apply sun protection creams or wear a hat.

The Don'ts

Do not take drinks with high content of alcohol. Alcohol kills cells which are the basic components of the body.

Do not eat too much chocolates and junk foods especially those greasy ones which surely contain unhealthy fats and gives extra calories. Sweets and calories are not good for the skin.

Do not smoke as well as avoid contact with 2nd hand smoke. Smoke makes the skin to age and develop wrinkles.

Simply eating healthy may be enough to achieve good looking and healthy skin. Coupled with good and desirable practices can really enhance the skin's health.
